Winter X Games Venue Information

  • Winter X Games VII will take place Jan 30 to Feb 2, 2003 at Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen, CO.
  • The event is free to the public.
  • All events are held outside. Proper outdoor attire is recommended.
  • For the safety and comfort of all spectators, the following items are not allowed at X Games Venues: weapons, alcohol, coolers, pets, folding chairs/large umbrellas, cans or glass containers.
  • Winter X Games is a non-smoking, alcohol-free event.
  • X Games is not responsible for lost or stolen goods, or damage to check-in items.
  • X Games reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone at any time.
  • All bags and persons entering the Winter X Games venue are subject to search.
  • Event Parking will be at Cozy Point Lot. Free Shuttle will be provided.

    Transportation Information

    PARKING

    There will be NO public parking available at Buttermilk Mtn during the Winter X Games event. Public Parking will be available at Cozy Point Lot at the intersection of Hwy 82 and Brush Creek Road (3 miles west of Buttermilk Mtn). Free shuttle service will be provided to and from the base area of Buttermilk Mtn (see shuttle info below). Pay parking also available in downtown Aspen.

    DROP AREA

    Spectators can be dropped off at the base of Buttermilk Mtn. Take Hwy 82, turn at Owl Creek Rd, and take first left (into Buttermilk Parking Lot). Drop Area is for loading and unloading only. NO parking.

    SHUTTLE

    Cozy Point: The Cozy Point shuttle will be running Jan 30-Feb 2 from approximately 8:00 am to 6:00pm. Shuttle times are dependant on competition schedule and subject to change. Free Skier Shuttle: Regular schedule with regular stops at the base of Buttermilk Mtn. Hours are from 8:00 am to 4:30pm.

    RAFTA: Provides extensive and free bus service around the town of Aspen. Shuttles run continuously during peak morning and afternoon hours. Call 970-925-8484 for more information.

    DRIVING DIRECTIONS

    From Denver: Take I-70 west to Glenwood Springs (Exit 116). Proceed South on Hwy 82 to Brush Creek Rd and park at Cozy Point Lot. Shuttles will take you to and from the event.

    From Grand Junction: Take I-70 East to Glenwood Springs (Exit 116). Proceed South on Hwy 82 to Brush Creek Rd and park at Cozy Point Lot.

    For the Safety and Security of all spectators, individuals are subject to seach prior to entering the Winter X Games venue. Please read Venue Information for details of what you can or cannot bring onto the venue.

    What's new this year at Winter X Games VII:

    *Spectator Bleachers at the base of Superpipe
    *More concessions stands and restrooms located in the base area of the mountain.
    * Onsite EXPN Proshop by Coreride.

    ATM (Money Machines)
    The ATM is located inside Bumps Lodge.

    ACCESSIBLE ROUTES, SEATING AND FACILITIES
    A designated wheelchair viewing area has been established at the patio deck of Bumps Lodge. A volunteer in the spectator service booth will be available to escort an individual to the wheel chair viewing area. Please go to the Spectator Services Booth for information or assistance.

    BLEACHER SEATS
    Limited bleacher seating will be available at the Superpipe. Seats cannot be saved and are operated on a first come basis.

    BOARDING FOR BREAST CANCER
    This worthy cause will have a booth onsite.

    CONCESSIONS
    Food and drink concession stands are located in the base area. Full service restaurant is located inside Bumps Lodge. EXPN PROSHOP powered by Coreride Check out the latest gear and products in the EXPN Proshop. The Proshop has goods from top action sports companies for sale, as well as, official X Games merchandise.

    LOST CHILDREN/LOST AND FOUND ITEMS
    The Spectator Services Booth is designated as the meeting point for lost or separated people. The Lost and Found is located at the Spectator Services Booth. Items that are found should be turned into staff at this booth. Spectators reporting any lost items should be directed there as well. MEDICAL
    Onsite Medical is available to both staff and spectators. If you have or see a medical emergency, please contact an ESPN staff member or Security immediately and they will notify medical personnel. The Spectator Medical tent is located next to Spectator Services tent at the main entrance. Water and basic medical services are be provided by trained staff.

    MERCHANDISE
    X Games Merchandise tent, located at the main entrance near the shuttle drop area, will be selling Official X Games Merchandise.

    NO SMOKING
    The X Games is a Non-Smoking venue. Please refrain from smoking in all public area.

    PUBLIC PAYPHONES
    Public Payphones are available inside of Bumps Lodge.

    RESTROOMS
    Restrooms are located instead Bumps Lodge. Additional restrooms are set up at the shuttle drop area and Venue C (Snocross Competition)

    SECURITY
    Security Check Points are located at the entrance and exit to the venue. Event Security personnel are also patrolling the venue and will assist with crowd and access control.

    EXPN SNOWSKATE PARK
    A snowskate demo area located in the base area of Buttermilk Mtn. Patrons must sign a waiver and wear a helmet.

    SPECTATOR SERVICES BOOTH
    The Spectator Service Booth is the designated area for all Event Information. Event schedule, venue activities, lost and found, wheel chair viewing maps, and other event services are offered. The Spectator Services Booth is located at the main entrance next to the shuttle drop area.

    INTERACTIVE VILLAGE
    The Interactive Village is the designated Sponsor Booth area. It's located by the main entrance and offers many fun activities and giveaways for spectators.
