SnoCross - 32 competitors
Best described as NASCAR on snow, the SnoCross competition sets racers up against one other on a combination oval shaped/cross-country style track to determine who is the fastest. The track this year has the potential to be the best Winter X Games SnoCross track to date, as it will be a Supercross-style track and will have some major hits and lots of room for passing. Last year, Blair Morgan beat top seeded 15-year old Tucker Hibbert who had won almost every other race of the season. This year's competition should prove to be just as exciting as Tucker once again will be competing against the rest of the SnoCross circuit to see who is the world's fastest rider. HillCross - 26 competitors The HillCross competition pits racers against one other in head-to-head competition to see who can make it to the top of the hill the fastest. HillCross has changed to a Round Robin qualifying format, similar to SnoCross with three rounds, a last chance qualifier and the final. Six competitors at a time race up what should be the most challenging HillCross courses ever, with an uphill start, a gnarly jump section in the middle and straight shot to the finish. One of the newest additions to the Winter X Games, HillCross is only in its second year. Carl Kuster finished first at Winter X last year by racing up the course in just under 40 seconds. The winner of this event is the true King of the Hill. Look For: DJ Eckstrom and Justin Tate of team Amsoil are competing in both SnoCross and HillCross and both of these riders have a chance at podiums in either sport. Eckstrom won a bronze medal in SnoCross at the 2001 Winter X. Tucker Hibbert has a brand new sled that is out of this world, which could help bring him back to the top.
