Cline and Crist take home the goods.
It wasn't just coincidence when Aleisha Cline took the podium to claim her third Women's Skier X title that Daft Punk's "One More Time" was bumping through the sound system. Almost on cue, the bassline dropped as she stepped to the top of the podium to accept her second straight Winter X Games gold medal.

Even though it was her third win in four years at the Winter X Games, she was still hopping up and down on the stand, obviously stoked about her medal. Next to her was Magdalena Jonsson, repeating as silver medalist. Third place Patti Sherman-Kauf was flanked by her young children as she received her medal.

At the top of the mountain, Aleisha didn't even get the hole shot. She was locked in the pack for the early part of the course but by the fourth hit, she shot into the lead. After that, it was a race for second place. Aleisha expanded her lead throughout the course, finishing well ahead of second place Jonsson.

On the men's side of things, with pre-race favorite Shaun Palmer dropping out of the competition roughly a week prior, things were definitely up in the air. Last year's winner, Zach Crist was looking for the repeat, but it was his brother, Reggie Crist who went home with the hardware.

Reggie knew what he needed to do, coming as a darkhorse from the outside lane.

"I just wanted to get the hole shot and give myself a chance", said Crist after the event.

Crist plowed ahead of the pack at the second berm, giving the ex-Olympian the lead for good. Ripping through the heavily falling snow, Reggie kept it together and took the win, nearly a second ahead of Peter Lind.

"I just knew with the conditions that I had to float out there and not let it get away from me" he remarked.

The entire event took place in low visibility conditions, with snow blowing wildly everywhere. Buttermilk mountain was hit with a large storm in the early morning hours on Friday, dropping over four inches of powder through the early evening.

The new snow may have slowed the course down a bit, but it didn't affect the turnout, as hundreds gathered at the finish line to give it up for the winners.
