Green Day Will Perform At Winter X Games VI
Green Day, in conjunction with ESPN, will break in the New Year with a special performance at Winter X Games VI in Aspen, Colorado, January 19, 2002. Having just released their singles collection, International Superhits! (Reprise), the pivotal and explosive punk rock group are set to play a concert for fans and Winter X Games’ athletes to celebrate the sixth annual signature winter action sports event, which features the world’s best athletes competing in snowboarding, snowmobiling, moto x and skiing. Taped portions of the concert will also be seen on EXPN 2Day and ESPN2's monthly series hosted by Rick Thorne. In addition, EXPN.com, the year-round Internet home for action sports and culture will also feature taped concert segments.
On International Superhits!, Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool, and Mike Dirnt collected their most popular tracks representing each of the band’s multi-platinum or platinum Reprise albums--1994’s Dookie, 1995’s Insomniac, 1997’s Nimrod, and 2000’s Warning. The album also includes two new songs, “Maria” and “Poprocks & Coke.” The band have also just released Internation Supervideos!, which comprises all of the group’s music videos on DVD and VHS.
Winter X Games VI, free to the public, will feature more than 350 of the world’s best athletes competing in snowboarding, snowmobiling, moto x and skiing events at Aspen’s Buttermilk Mountain over Martin Luther King Day weekend, January 17 - 20.
