2001 Winter X Games Snowmobiling
Dec. 22, 2000

What's happening in Snowmobiling at Winter X

SnoCross- 16 competitors
Best described as NASCAR on snow, the SnoCross competition sets racers up against each other on a combination oval shaped/cross-country style track to determine who is the fastest. Last year, 15-year old Tucker Hibbert shocked the snowmobiling community by not only making it to the final round, but by taking home Winter X gold. This year's competition should prove to be just as exciting as Tucker once again will be competing against the rest of the snocross circuit to see who is the world's fastest rider.

HillCross- 18 competitors
The HillCross competition pits racers against each other in head-to-head competition to see who can make it to the top of the hill the fastest. Anything goes as racers tear up the hill avoiding obstacles such as rollers and gates. One of the newest additions to the Winter X Games, this year's competition will be the first HillCross competition ever held. The winner of this event will be reigned the true King of the Hill.

Look For: After his breakout performance at last years Winter X Games Tucker Hibbert is the man to beat. The 16 year old is barely old enough to drive a car, but has proven to all of his competitors that he needs no lessons when it comes to driving a sled.

Overheard: "Yes, it is the World debut of WSA Hillcross. And the ESPN Winter X Games is the host. This is going to be so big. And we have not released the Best yet. Over the next 3 yrs this Hillcross thing is going to be BIG." - Joe Duncan, Winter X Games organizer and WSA President.
