The ESPN Winter X Games will return to Mount Snow Resort February 1-4,
2001. The Winter X Games features the talents of more than 350
international athletes competing in winter alternative sports such as
snowboarding, snowmobile snocross and skiing. The 2000 Winter X Games at
Mount Snow shattered attendance records, attracting 83,500 people and outdrawing all other Winter X Games combined.
Last year's Winter X Games awarded medals and prize money for Snowboarding
in Slopestyle, Big Air, BoarderX and Superpipe, men and women; Skiing in
SkierX for men and women and Big Air; Ski Boarding for men; Snow Mountain
Biking, BikerX for men and women; Snowmobile Snocross and UltraCross, a
ski and snowboard combined event.

"Mt. Snow and ESPN have partnered to draw spectators from all over the
Northeast to the Winter X Games," said Jack Wienert, Executive Director,
ESPN Event Creation and Management. "We are pleased that the Winter X
Games is finally receiving the on-site audience recognition that the
athletes deserve."
Under the terms of a four-year agreement signed with American Skiing
Company, the Winter X Games will be held for two years at Mount Snow -
2000 and 2001 - and subsequent Games' - 2002 and 2003 - will be held at
American Skiing Company resorts to be named later.
The Winter X Games will be televised February 2-6 on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC
with more than 18 hours of original programming. The Games are telecast
to an audience of more than 20 million viewers in more than 180 countries
and territories worldwide.
Mount Snow's proximity to major metropolitan areas in the East - just four
hours from New York City and 2.5 hours from Boston - makes it easy for
spectators across the country to come enjoy the Winter X Games. The Mount
Snow Valley offers 150 lodging properties, over 50 dining establishments
and a wide range of activities for all ages. The nearby towns of
Brattleboro and Bennington, Vermont offer additional lodging
accommodations, dining and activity options.
ESPN, the worldwide leader in action sports television, first developed
its X Games franchise in 1995. The Winter X Games, EXPN2Day, Tony Hawk's
Gigantic Skatepark Tour, the X Trials and B3 events are just some of the
original action sports programming currently shown on ESPN and ESPN2. In
addition, surfing and motocross are shown regularly on both networks.
