Having spent over a decade as the royal ax-man of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Nate Albert left his long-time group, made a pit-stop in Rhode Island to earn a degree in political theory from Brown University, wrote a slew of songs and started his new band, The Kickovers (changed from The Brakes for legal reasons). Dutifully paying homage to the soundtrack of his youth-The Replacements, Husker Du, the Pixies, Blondie and, yes, AC/DC-the multi talented Nate Albert takes the reigns on lead vocals and guitar of this power-punk tsunami.

Over the past year, Nate recorded at Boston's Wooly Mammoth Studios with owner/producer Dave Minehan (Paul Westerberg, The Neighborhoods), Mikey Welsh (ex-Weezer), Joe Sirois (Mighty Mighty Bosstones), Johnny Rioux, Rich Gilbert (Frank Black and the Catholics), Paul Buckley (Orbit) and Dave Aaronoff (The Shods). They recorded the thirteen tracks that make up The Kickovers first album, Osaka, tossing in everything from straight-up punk to new wave and a handful of perfect three-minute pop songs. From the love-stricken playfulness of "Fake In Love" to the take hold hooks of "Put Me On" and the country tinged surprise that is "Crash and Burn," Osaka gives Albert's talents (as a songwriter, vocalist and guitarist) a place to shine gloriously front and center. Top to bottom, this debut is a premier collection of infectious pop songs, sure to leave you happily spinning it again and again.

In the meantime, Albert has assembled a full-time band worthy of wearing The Kickovers name. Enter The Kickovers -Mikey Welsh, Johhny Rioux and Jamie Vavre-a band of illustrious pedigree, experience and talent. They will hit the road playing select dates this Spring and Summer.

The Kickovers are the first artist signing for the new independent label, Fenway Recordings, headed by former Grand Royal President and Geffen Records Executive, Mark Kates.
