Update 8/7/02: Caleb was injured practicing a new trick for the X Games. He will be at the X Games but unfortunately will not be competing.

What specifically qualified you for the X Games?

I qualified based on performance in step up and by attending all events. For big air I was eligible to be voted in in big air by the WFA committee.

Caleb has proven he can go as big as the best but does he have what it takes to beat out the rest?

Step up and big air.

What were your biggest moments from the year?

Being the first to successfully pull the back flip is definitely the high point. I started down that road a year ago, and it took a lot of trial and error. The whole journey has been incredible, and the culmination will be pulling it in competition, which I hope to do at X. I also have a good ranking in step up, and being ranked among the best in the world there has also been a great achievement. It has been a great year.

What do you hope to get out of the X Games?

­I want to go and give it 100%, and if I am able to successfully do what I want to do then I will be stoked. Medal or no medal. X to me is a personal goal. I have worked hard to achieve what I have this year, and I am just really stoked to be going to X.

What tricks are you working on now? I have a top secret agenda and it will be crazy. Every rider in Big Air knows what the landscape looks like right now, and you need to pull of something new an amazing. Everyone is stoked on the back flip but there is more, and I plan on doing more. (Insert toothy grin here.)

What are your predictions for the x Games?

Predicting the X Games is like trying to read the judges minds. If this was a checkered flag situation, then I would hope it would be me for Big Air. I hope to have the chance to go out and win, but wešll know in the riders meeting what the judges are looking for, and wešll just have to wait and see. For Freestyle, it is a toss up. If the back flip is not the name of the game; Cliff or Drake. People are getting too worried about back flips and those guys can just slay it. If it is a back flip game, Pastrana or Metz, Step Up- This one is a toss up. Clowers has this switch that flips when he rides up to the line for step up, but- Renner is a star and really could unseat the former world champ and take his medal.
