To an athlete, the body is their temple. Proper nutrition, circulation, strength and flexibility are all concerns to any competition level rider. Keeping the body in balance takes commitment, but so does learning a new trick.

We've highlighted three X Games athletes and taken a closer look at both what they've sacrificed in the name of progression, and what they rely on most to perform.

hamilton Tara Hamilton (WKB)

All around wakeboard ruler Tara Hamilton took gold in the 2000 X Games and is looking for a powerful return to this year's competition.

allancooke Allan Cooke (BST)

Great up and coming rider Allan Cooke throws out big style everytime he rides a bike. Allan can kill the dirt and the park course in the same day and it doesn't even fade him. He's definitely someone to watch at this year's X Games.

frazier Carey Hart (MTX)

Freestyle Moto X rider Carey Hart rocketed to national recognition when he threw down the first backflip on a 125cc bike or larger. Fully recovered after coming down hard on another backflip attempt in last year's X Games, Carey is ready to ride.

frazier TJ Lavin (BST)

Bicycle Stunt Dirt rider TJ Lavin is a consistant threat during the X Games. His competition experience and backyard dirt jumps make him one of the most well known dirt riders around.
