Bam Premiers CKY3
In true "rockstar" form, Bam Margera arrived to his own bash in a 20 person stretch-limo flanked with women, women, and more women. The "unofficial" X Games party, thrown by Bam Himself, was held at the Trocadero Theater in downtown Philadelphia on Sunday August 19th. Immediately after the skateboarding vert doubles were over, droves of Bam fans flocked to the Troc. Attendees included Jason Ellis, Danny Way, Colin McKay and even "birdman" himself, Tony Hawk.

Billed as the "CKY3 Sneak Preview featuring performances by CKY and HIM", the event attracted a crowd well over the 1300 person capacity that left non-ticket toting fans standing in the rain.

The concert kicked off with a blast from the past as local hardcore legends McRad blew through an adrenaline laced rock set. The band's lead singer/guitarist, Chuck Treece, a Philadelphia native, was a skateboard pro in the 1980's and has recorded soundtracks to timeless skate videos including Powell Peralta's Ban This. Second in line were new local gods CKY who took the stage by force and railed through an amazing 45 minutes of hesh rock. Guitarist Chad Ginsburg threw his axe around his back more times in this one show than Eddie Van Halen has in an entire career! Last act to hit the stage was HIM, Bam's favorite band in the world. He had the guys flown over to the US from Europe just to do this one show! He even got up to sing a song with lead singer Ville Valo who absolutely commanded the stage on a cover of Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell".

Even with three bands down, the real party didn't start until they cut the lights to premiere Bam's newest video creation CKY3, the follow up to the hugely successful CKY2K. The video also features fellow Jackass members Ryan Dunn and Rabe Himself. Along with Brandon DiCamillo and Rake Yohn, these comedy-stuntmen endure some of the most ridiculous "shopping cart to speed bump" tests never imagined. The entire crowd roared for 52 minutes as Bam and friends launched themselves off of buildings, into trees, and over guide rails. Randomly placed skate footage includes clips of Bam, Mike Maldonado, Brandon Novak, and recent XGames Gold Medalist Kerry Getz. Packed with beyond belief antics and skits, CKY3 proved to be the main draw for the evening's audience keeping the Troc packed until the very end.

After the concert's close, Bam and friends threw a big shout out to the crowd and the sponsors that helped make it all happen, which included Element Skateboards, Adio Footwear, Sk8ramp.com and EXPN. He assured us that it would all be done again during the 2002 X Games, which are headed back to Philly. Rumors also have it that Bam may take this Band/Video/Skate show on the road to some major cities in mid 2002. I guess we'll all have to wait and see what the madman pulls out of his hat next!
