X Games Skateboarding For Play Station 2
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - How hard is it to qualify for the most intense sporting competition in the world -- the 2001 X Games? Participants throughout Philadelphia will find out as Konami and ESPN present the ESPN X Gamers Challenge. This exhilarating competition marks the first time that a video game -- ESPN X Games Skateboarding for the PlayStation 2™ computer entertainment system -- will be included as an official Summer X Games event. The game rolls into stores on August 14, right before the start of the 2001 X Games.

During the X Games on August 17-18, all attending spectators and gamers in the Philadelphia metropolitan area will have the opportunity to grind the rails and catch big air in their quest to qualify for the 2001 X Games. Throughout the two-day qualifying period, participants will compete in ESPN X Games Skateboarding's Vert Competition at Konami's ESPN the games tent located in the Interactive Village. The top ten scorers will then get the chance to walk away with an X Games gold medal. The video game final competition takes place on August 20 (Time TBA) and will be televised on ESPN and ESPN 2 as part of the network's 2001 X Games Coverage. The top three scorers will each receive an X Games gold, silver or bronze medal. Along with capturing the most coveted medal in action sports, the gold medallist will also have an opportunity to compete in the video game against one of the top professional skateboarders in the world as well as receive an autographed professional skateboard and copy of the game.
