The following is excerpted from:
TWISTED CRYSTAL BALL
Sal Masekela Sees All (And That's a Very Scary Thought)

INL
The U.S. went from six inline medals in 1996 to two in 2000. President Bush believes this decline is bad for the country's morale, so he has devised a plan, which he calls Down Under With Australia. Shane Yost, Matt Salerno and Sam Fogarty will be barred from entering the country. Australia will flip out and demand the return of Paul Hogan., a.k.a. Crocodile Dundee. Bush's popularity will skyrocket.

BMX
Canada's Jay Miron gets held up during a strip search at the border. He misses his BMX Park comp and arrives just in time for Vert. Mysteriously, Blame Canada blares during his run.

BMX
Burger King's new poster boy, Dave Mirra, has been sighted making late-night Whopper charges with his BK VIP card. Twenty pounds later, Mirra carves his flares eight feet out instead of his normal 10 to 12 feet. Mirra's world domination ends. Burger King doesn'tknow whether to laugh or cry.

BMX
The Human Spirit lesson at this year's X will be taught by downhill BMXer Dave Cullinan. Cullinan, a pro mountain bike racer, nearly died from an injury to his heart in 1993. He received an artificial valve that relegated him to an exciting life of blood thinners and limited activity, with an annoying click in his chest. A second surgery replaced the artificial valve with a human transplant. Oprah finally finds a story in the X Games.

MTX
In a Freestyle MotoX switch-up, the Metal Mulisha will spread a "One Love" message. In turn, humble, well-spoken Travis Pastrana will rock a Slayer T-shirt, throw up horns, chuck the bird to judges and grunt during interviews. Moms and children will cringe. Pastrana will remain undefeated.

SKT
Skate master Eric Koston suffers from "As the Lakers Lead I Will Follow" syndrome. This isn't necessarily bad. The Lakers won in 2000, and so did Koston. The Lakers also won in 2001. Question: Will Eric have the nerve to wear a Lakers jersey in Philly?

For all of Sal's twisted predictions, plus his picks for winners and darkhorses in all of the X Games events, check out the prototype issue of EXPN Magazine.
