King Returns to Throne at Summer X

Philadelphia, Pa. - Street luge drew 2,350 loyal spectators to Falls Road for an exciting final competition. Brent DeKeyser of Pasadena, Ca. placed first in the supermass competition, edging out David Rogers of Redlands, Ca. and Dave Auld of Lake Forest, Ca.

DeKeyser, who learned to street luge from Rogers, was pleased with the day: "I had a good start and followed through with a clean run. I was glad to see Dave was behind me and thought he was creeping, but held on in the end." DeKeyser rides for the Rogers street luge team.

The King of the Hill competition pits four riders against each other in a bracketed competition. Last year's gold medal winner Dennis Derammelaere repeated a solid performance and defeated Bob Ozman of Walnut Creek, Ca. and Lee Dansie, who placed second and third respectively.

"I got more comfortable going faster and faster as the day went on and had enough confidence to win in the end," said Derammelaere.

Wakboarding begins tomorrow, Monday, August 13 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the Schuykill River.

The X Games continue through August 22 in Philadelphia, with television coverage beginning Saturday, August 18 on ABC. The free event features competitions in aggressive in-line skating, skateboarding, bicycle stunt, street luge, speedclimbing, moto x and wakeboarding.
