Moto X - Big Air Odds
Jake Windham 2-1
With his insane Kiss of Death, he comes into the event as the clear favorite. Will the trick hold up? It's the cutting-edge of the sport today, but today ain't X. Carey Hart (No Bet) Last week (7/8) a broken collarbone and bruised lung, but not officially out of the games as of now. Assuming he's not injured, you have to believe he's thinking (and practicing) back flip, probably with some kind of twist. A healthy Hart would be 2-1, and we know he loves this event - feels it's tailored made for him. Even hurt, who knows, one jump, one landing, he may give it a go, but can't lay odds with the injury factor. Travis Pastrana 2-1 Proved he had No Fear with '99 jump in the SF Bay and his aborted back flip in '00. You have to believe he has something spectacular up his sleeve for Philly and may put his focus here since he must know that winning freestyle gold is a tough road to hoe. Plus word is he's been having some secret practice sessions on the down low on a special course at Woodward. Hmmmm. El Fliperroo? Dustin Miller 5-1 Small, lithe, fast, flexible, quick, nimble and insane. He can pull tricks that would shock a yoga instructor. But is his one-handed Nac Nac gnarly enough for gold? Mike Jones 10-1 Jones joins a few others in the back flip rumor mill, but you have to believe this guy has the skills and cojones to pull it off. On the other hand, he's old enough to know life goes on so he might be sane enough know it's really not be worth it. Mike Metzger 15-1 Anything's possible with The Godfather, but he just doesn't seem to be on the edge these days. But with a well-deserved rep for inventing new tricks, Metz could well bring a new trick to Philly and blow everyone's mind. Dan Pastor 20-1 The WFA World Champ is also said to have a back flip up his sleeve (or somewhere), but you can't count on him (or anyone) to actually pull it, let alone land it. And if he doesn't not likely to win with his signature trick, The Starfish, which some judges say just a gussied-up barhop, and that won't cut X Games gold. Nate Adams 30-1 Only sweet 17, blessed with mad skills and a supporting dad. But big time pressure and big time talent to beat. He'll make his mark and turn some heads, but better days definitively lie ahead. Jeff Kargola 50-1 As of the last year, at least, this lovable 250-pounder, known as Ox, has made a name for himself with the Ox-executioner. A trick big enough to get him to X, but unless he pulls something much bigger, it's a tres sick one-trick-pony, way cool, but not very likely to earn gold.
