Moto X Events
Organizer: LXD Inc.

"There's nothing like the smell of two stroke oil in the morning," a line overheard in San Francisco last June, pretty much sums up the mind set around this sport. This is a sport that embodies what the X Games are at it's purest: huge airtime and loads of adrenaline. It's also a sport that is still in its infancy, progressing constantly and the unpredictability adds to the excitement exponentially. This year marks Moto X's third year in X and marks the addition of a new discipline, Big Air.

Freestyle
Location: First Union Complex- Outdoors
The object of Freestyle is to go as big as humanly possible on a 250cc motocross bike, pull a death defying trick mid air, and hopefully land in one piece. The holy grail of Moto X, the back flip, was executed last year at the Gravity Games by one of the sport's pioneers, Carey Hart. Carey successfully rotated through the flip but fell off after landing. Travis Pastrana also tried to pull the flip at last year's X Games but couldn't make it through the rotation and bailed out while inverted leaving the first clean backflip still up in the air. Rumor has it that many of the riders have pulled them off at secret practice areas successfully and the X Games will be the place to show the world.

Step Up:
Location: First Union Complex- Indoors
MotoX's own version of the Olympics high jump was a huge success last year and included a Guinness World Record jump from the winner Tommy "Tom Cat" Clowers. Be on the look out for some high flyin' action when Moto's best show how high they can go. The format of the event is a reverse limbo with riders attempting to launch their bikes up-and-over a high bar. The bar is raised after every round until a winner is determined.

Big Air

New to X this year, this event is Moto at it's purest; a one hit competition under the lights and the winner takes all. Taking a cue from the snowboarding competition, Big Air is a single jump off a single hit challenging riders to put all of their energy into pulling off their most impressive jump. At the Winter X Games Big Air competition, Mike Jones successfully executed the first ever "Kiss of Death" where a rider touches the front fender of the bike while in mid air. This is an event not to be missed.
