This coming weekend the 2001 Asian Xtour presented by Toyota will be making its second stop: Bangkok, Thailand. The land where taxis are called "tut-tuts", spices will make your eyes water, and the beaches truly are made of soft, white sand.

The X Games first launched internationally in Thailand back in 1998 on the beautiful Island of Phuket. For three successful years Thailand hosted the Asian X Games Qualifier. During this time Thai athletes have grown into Asia's action sports power house second only to Japan. The Bangkok stop is the one opportunity for Thai athletes to qualify for the Asian X Games Qualifier presented by Toyota, which will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in January of 2002. In addition to competing for over $100,000 in prize money, top finishers will also receive a medal and an invitation to compete in the 2002 X Games, to be held in Philadelphia.

Look for some hot talent to come out of Bangkok. Two years ago, Thai inline skater, Jeerasak Tassorn qualified for the X Games through the 1999 Asian X Games Qualifier presented by Toyota. In San Francisco, at the 2000 X Games, Jeerasak, an unknown at the time, wowed the inline world. Tassorn placed 5th in the aggressive inline Park competition. Against the top pros from around the world, he made himself, Thai and Asian athletes known.

Events this weekend will include: a park course competition in: skateboarding, aggressive in-line, and bicycle stunt as well as bicycle stunt Flatland competition. Expect to see Jeerasak and future Thai stars this weekend in Bangkok! We'll be there, eating fresh cut pineapple on a stick, drinking banana shakes, and soaking up the sunshine!
