11.06.02EXPN.com Q: How much are tickets and where are they being sold? A: The ESPN Winter X Games are FREE to the public. There are no tickets or passes necessary for entrance into the venue. Entrance is based on a first come basis. Q: Where are the Winter X Games being held? A: The primary venue for the ESPN Winter X Games is Buttermilk Mountain, one of the four glorious Aspen mountain resorts. Events will be held on Buttermilk from January 30 through February 2. For all the info you need about getting to the Games including: Parking, venue maps & directions, accommodations and facts about Aspen, please visit the ASPEN/Snowmass site. Q: Is there parking on site or should I take public transportation to Buttermilk? A: There is no designated spectator parking during the event. All drivers will be directed to Cozy Point off of Hwy 82 at Brush Creek Rd. Free shuttles will be available from Cozy Point and Buttermilk Mt (ending at 6:00pm). Spectators are encouraged to take RAFTA , especially if they are coming from downtown Aspen. Q: Since there is no parking, can I still drop off friends and family at Buttermilk Mountain? A: Yes, you will be able to pull up to the base of the mountain to drop people off. The drop off area is located off of Owl Creek Rd from Hwy 82. Signage will direct you into the parking area next to the Powder Panda's building to drop people off. Q: How can I volunteer for the X Games? A: The ESPN X Games staff is currently recruiting volunteers for this year's event. Space is limited and positions are given on a first come basis. Volunteer positions are for the full day. All volunteers should register at www.xgamesvolunteers.com. Q: How can my business rent a booth at the Winter X Games and how much does it cost? A: The only "booths" at the ESPN Winter X Games belong to our national sponsors, partners and local affiliate partners. All of these booths are located in the Interactive Village at the base area of Buttermilk. Q: Can I compete in the Winter X Games? A: The ESPN X Games is the premier competition in action sports. The fields for the X Games are very limited and only the very best athletes in each sport are invited to the X Games. The list of currently qualified athletes will be posted on EXPN.com. Q: Can I bring my family to the Winter X Games? A: The X Games is known as one of the most fun and exciting free events for the entire family. The event is non-alcoholic and the environment is family oriented with several interactive activities for children. Q: Is there a list of other activities that are going on during the Winter X Games? A: There is no formal listing of events in conjunction with the X Games. Q: What superstars will be at the ESPN Winter X Games? A: All 300 athletes that will be competing in the 2003 Winter X Games are superstars. Go to our 2003 Invited Athletes page to see who else will be there. Q: I am a member of the media and I would like information about the Winter X Games and credentials? A: All media information for the Winter X Games is available on www.espneventmedia.com. The application for credentials is also available on the website, however, credentials are granted to working media only. Q: Are there any restrictions to what I can bring onto the venue? A: All spectators are subject to a search prior to entering the X Games venue. The following items are not allowed on the venue: alcohol, bottles & glass containers, coolers, pets (excluding ADA assistance dogs), and weapons. ESPN reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone at anytime. Q: Will Buttermilk Mountain be open for skiing and snowboarding during the event. A: Yes, 80% of Buttermilk will be open with four of six lifts running. Aspen/Snowmass includes three other mountains (Aspen Mountain, Snowmass and Highlands) with over 4,000 acres open for skiing and snowboarding. One lift ticket includes all four mountains.
