After a highly successful debut in Rio last year, the ESPN Latin American X Games will return to Rio de Janeiro April 11-13 for Latin American X Games II, which will be held on Leme Beach, Copacabana. Latin American X Games II will feature more than 250 of Latin America's leading action sports athletes competing in Bicycle Stunt, Skateboarding and Aggressive In-line Skating for prize money, medals, and an invitation to participate in ESPN's X Games IX in Los Angeles, California in August. The event will be free and open to the public.

Sponsorship interest in the Latin American X Games has been building since last year's event, which attracted more than 38,000 enthusiastic spectators to the venue located near Aterro de Flamengo. This year, Rio de Janeiro has signed-on as the official host city and as a gold sponsor of Latin American X Games II. Through the city's support, the Rio Secretary of Sports and Leisure will facilitate the staging of the event in exchange for an extensive promotional package. Latin American X Games II will also receive support from other gold level sponsors including MasterCard, Ford Brasil, Coca-Cola, and McDonald's.

Sponsorship benefits for all gold sponsors will include television exposure on three networks including ESPN International, ESPN Brasil, and TV Globo. Additional sponsorship elements will include complete on-site signage and hospitality opportunities as well as exposure on the event's official internet website www.latinxgames.com.

"The choice of Rio de Janeiro as the host city of the Latin American X Games II is a source of great pride and joy for our city," said Ruy Cesar, Rio Sports Secretary. "The international importance of the X Games, the success of the Latin American X Games in Rio last year, and the free admission for the public are all reasons that led the city to support the event this year."

TV Globo, which helped produce the television coverage of the Latin American X Games last year, will once again act as host broadcaster. For the second consecutive year, TV Globo will televise a portion of the Latin American X Games live during its Sports Spectacular program. Last year, Sports Spectacular's live presentation of the Latin American X Games reached more than 30 million households in Brazil.

"Globo is very proud to produce the event for a second year in a row," said Emanuel Castro, Sports Event Director, TV Globo. "Last year, we produced the best ratings on Sports Spectacular with the Latin American X Games. This year, ESPN and TV Globo will produce another great show for the people of Latin America."
