Aspen/Snowmass, Colo- Snow continues to fall at Aspen/Snowmass, with another nine inches (23 cm) falling overnight. Over the past 48 hours a foot (12-inches/30 cm) of snow has blanketed the slopes and covered the streets of Aspen and Snowmass Village.

During the night, the upper runs on Snowmass, Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk received up to nine inches of snow. More snow is expected throughout the day. Breaking images of the new snow are available in the Aspen/Snowmass Image Gallery at www.aspensnowmass.com/media.

The first snow of the season graces the slopes of Aspen Mountain.

Aspen Mountain and Snowmass are scheduled to open November 28, 2002. Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk are scheduled to open December 14, 2002.

The Farmers Almanac is calling for heavy snow and colder-than-normal temperatures this winter. "Folks from Maine to Colorado can expect heavy snow and colder-than-normal temperatures," writes Caleb Weatherbee, the pseudonym used by the almanac's forecaster.

This winter ski season, Aspen/Snowmass guests will find sixteen new double black diamond runs open in Highland Bowl. The new terrain opening in 2002/03 is dotted with trees and is primarily north facing, meaning deep, steep snow conditions all season long. Also, for riders Buttermilk's Crazy T'rain terrain park is bigger with a dedicated run allowing for even more hits and jumps. The Crazy T'rain terrain park is home to the 2003 ESPN Winter X Games VII, coming to Aspen/Snowmass Jan. 30-Feb 2.
