Girls Learn To Ride, the innovative series of girls only action sports beginner clinics, will present a surfing day on Friday, June 28, 2002, at La Jolla Shores in San Diego, CA.

The Girls Learn To Ride surfing event is open to girls aged 9 to 90 and gives females the chance to learn how to surf in a relaxed and fun environment. The event includes a two- hour surfing lesson, surfboard and wetsuit rental, a raffle of surfing gear and more, as well as a goodie bag containing CDs and other prizes. Lessons will take place throughout the day from 7:30am to 5pm. The cost is $47.00 with a donation going to the Boarding For Breast Cancer Fund, which supports breast cancer research.

The classes will be taught by Surf Diva, the premier surfing school for girls and women, based in San Diego, CA. Girls Learn To Ride program is presented by SG Surf Snow Skate magazine.

"The Girls Learn To Ride program is gaining momentum," says Girls Learn To Ride organizer Mark Sperling. ³There is a need for girls and women of all ages to learn new sports that have traditionally been dominated by their brothers, boyfriends or husbands.²

Girls Learn To Ride, now in its third year, is a series of one-day clinics during which girls of all ages are given the chance to learn sports typically dominated by boys and men; such as skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, wakeboarding, and motocross in a relaxing, safe, and fun environment. Girls Learn To Ride hopes to encourage and empower girls of all ages to learn, love and participate in these sports right along side the boys. In 2002, Girls Learn To Ride will be holding 30 clinics throughout the United States.
