Tara Dakides was recognized by SI Women as one of "The Coolest Girls In Sports 2001", her amazing accomplishments and personality is the subject of a four-page feature which highlights her life before snowboarding, her awesome career and her adventure to the top. Her story kicks off the section which highlights some of the most incredible women in the sports world including, tennis super-star Serena Williams, sprinter Aimee Mullins, Aussie surfer Serena Brooke and Teresa Weatherspoon of the WNBA's New York Liberty.

Humble as ever, Dakides was shocked to see that she would be considered in the ranks of women like Serena Williams. "I can't believe that they would choose me for the cover," commented Dakides after looking through the magazine, "These women are awesome, and they chose me?"
