Boarding For Breast Cancer's (B4BC) 7th Annual
Snowboard + Music Festival is set to rock Sierra-At-Tahoe on April 14th.
Confirmed to headline this year's event is rap-metal band Crazy Town. Dan
"The Automator" of Gorillaz fame and emo-rock quintet Sense Field will also
be among the growing list of performers scheduled to grace the stage to
raise awareness and funds for breast cancer.
"What could be better than finishing the winter with some insane
snowboarding in Tahoe while performing at one of the coolest benefits," said
Brett Epic Mazur of Crazy Town. "We are honored to be a part of the B4BC's
growing legacy known for great music, snowboarding and raising money for
such an important cause."
"My mom died from breast cancer almost four years ago and it is a horrible
disease," said Sense Field guitarist and producer Chris Evenson. "If
Boarding for Breast Cancer can raise awareness, raise funds and maybe
prevent someone else's mother or daughter or girlfriend from getting this
disease it's something we are proud to be a part of."
The 7th Annual Snowboard + Music Festival will kick off at 8:00 a.m. April
14th. Sal Masekela, host of ESPN's X-Games and X-2day, and Kennedy, former
VJ for MTV, will be on hand as masters of ceremonies announcing the first
bands' performance before mid-day. From then until the close of the festival
at 6 p.m., attendees can expect bands to rock the slopes throughout the day.
The complete lineup will be announced soon.
Once again the event will feature exhibitions by professional snowboarders
and skiers in both the halfpipe and snowboard park. Athletes attending the
event include 2002 U.S. Olympic Team halfpipe rider and event co-founder
Shannon Dunn, event co-founder Tina Basich, Michele Taggart, Josh Dirksen,
Mikey Basich, and the entire Chorus Snowboards' team of Janna Meyen, Roberta
Rodger, Leslee Olson, Tomo Yamakoshi, and Cara Beth Burnside. Other
athletes expected to attend include past attendees Todd Richards, Mike
Michalchuk, Tara Dakides, and Shaun Palmer, as well as freeskiers Shane
McConkey, Aleisha Cline and Olympic Gold Medallist Johnny Mosely.
Boarding for Breast Cancer is a non-profit, youth-focused organization
devoted to education, awareness and fundraising for breast cancer. B4BC's
mission is to raise breast cancer awareness and educate today's youth about
the importance of early cancer detection through good breast health
practices, and to raise funds for educational and awareness programs. B4BC
does this through sports, music, art and events including: The Annual B4BC
Snowboard + Music Festival, B4BC's Board-A-Thon Program, The B4BC Outreach
Program, The B4BC Membership Drive and B4BC fund contributions. Since its
inception in 1994, B4BC has raised over $1 million through its events and
educational programs.
B4BC's Annual Snowboard + Music Festival combines live music from
internationally acclaimed bands such as previous performers, The Beastie
Boys (Quasar), Foo Fighters, Linkin Park and Blink 182, along with pro
snowboard exhibitions by the world's top snowboarders. The festival
atmosphere of educational tents and displays provides an interactive montage
of breast cancer awareness programs, creating a fun-filled and informative
event.
