"This is a strange kind of rest, because I feel like a guest, when I'm right here at home I'm not right here at home" -Fugazi
Well, now the
Emerica team will have a place for all of them to rest. While some teams find nice little houses for their team to kick it, Emerica has decided on a 9 bedroom mansion. Is this going to become a bad episode of TV's Big Brother or the latest trend in skate residence? Oh...wait...Big Brother was the latest trend in TV...oh well whatever. Taking up shelter in the new crib are:
Erik Ellington and his wife, Luciana, Andrew Reynolds, Heath Kirchart, Justin Regan and Beth, as well as Emerica filmer, Jon Miner. That still leaves a few beds empty for when
Mr. Templeton, Donny Barley or mansion regular
Bryan Herman wants to roll in. Check out emericaskate.com to see who has dish duties for the week.
The guys over in the
DC camp have been donating much of their time to various charities in the past few weeks.
Josh Kalis was recently at the
Make-A-Wish Foundation Skate Jam on Nov. 10. After attending the event down at the
Houston Southside Skatepark Josh hooked up with
Rob Dyrdek and Brian Wenning to do some filming.
Meanwhile,
Danny Way, Colin McKay and Jason Ellis took part in the charity food drive at the
Encinitas YMCA skatepark. The event was used to help families out for Thanksgiving. Colin is currently recovering from shoulder surgery so he was on the sidelines, as was Danny, who was resting after a long shoot at the
DC Superramp. McKay was the MC for the jam, which featured
Ellis, Tony Hawk, Bob Burnquist, Bucky Lasek, and Matias Ringstrom.
After landing covers on
Thrasher and
SLAP respectively,
Paul Machnau has left
Brigade and
Bones Wheels and
Caswell Berry has quit
Powell and
Bones Wheels. Both riders will continue to roll with
Bones Swiss Bearings though.
Maybe all of this is because
Bones is now offering the
Bones Super Swiss 6. The new bearing features six balls instead of seven. The balls are 20% bigger, their stronger, accelerate faster, have a higher top speed and less rolling friction. Bigger is better, right? Well, that's what my girl always says, but you should find out for yourself...available soon.
Also coming with some new product, or at least the same product with an old school color, is the next in line for the 80's series
Krux trucks.
Wallride Yellow should be available in your local stores as you are reading this, so go see what all the hype is about.
Back to the
Brigade side fo things,
Pat Channita is finished with physical therapy and should be riding in top form soon.
Andy Macdonald has been very busy lately. He has a new signature watch out from
Swatch and a new toy jump thing-a-ma-jig from
Tech Deck Christmas is right around the corner...Aside from all of that, Andy finished 4th at the
Crail World Cup in Brazil a few weeks ago.
Also at the comp were
Bob Burnquist and
Rune Glifberg, who finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
The
Foundation crew is going on little jaunt through Puerto Rico and Panama. Along for the ride will be
Justin Strubing, Jon West, Daniel Shimizu and Tony Silva. The boys will be there from December 3rd-17th for the Tour de Foundation en Latin America. Check out tumyeto.com for more info.
In other tour news, the
Girl team is currently on the
