The Weekly Grind 09.26.01

In light of the recent events in America, Santa Cruz has decided to pull a series of decks which were deemed inapporpriate, given their graphics. The 'Riot' pro series featured graphics with rioting protestors which could be viewed as terrorists. The graphic also featured an upside down flag that although not it's intention, could be mistaken as anti-American. It was decided that following an event of such proportions, it would be best for SC to pull the decks. A completely unrelated line of decks will replace the Riot Series by mid November.

Over in Alien Workshop country, Rob Dyrdek has been all over the place but recently returned home for a short stay between the X Games and the Gravity Games.

Danny Way is healing up after a multitude of injuries suffered before and during the X Games. One of the nastiest was a deep cut at the base of his hand which required stitching.

Jason Dill has been touring the US of late and you can expect his new shoe from DVS to be on your feet soon.

DVS teamate Kerry Getz also has a new shoe which will be available in the next month or so, if they aren't at your local shop already. Be on the lookout. Kerry has spent the last month tearing apart Philly and Providence, RI at the X Games and Gravity Games. He returns to his shop, Nocturnal, with some hefty cash flow.

The rest of the Habitat team has been filming like mad for a full length which is in the works.

And that team now includes Danny Renaud as well, so now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

Habitat also has some new wood in the works, including the third installment of their Coexist and Postage lines. There will also be a new Olimpica series. Kerry and Fred Gall will also have new limited edition decks out. The Getz MPC will be a new feature and it stands for Mid Point Concave and offers a milder steepness, for those of you who are down with that.

Getting back to Philly-style, Josh Kalis has left Dub due to a contract dispute and he will be rocking DC clothing from now on.

Henry Sanchez is now on the Dub team. You can catch him in the new Transworld video as well as in just about every skate mag in the next month.

Droors man, Ronnie Creager is building up his new shoe company, Nadia and you can check out his spotlight in the new Transworld skate mag, as well as on this site.

That bloodsucking skateboard company, Toy Machine is now without the services of Brian Anderson and Brad Staba. Brad will now be riding for enjoi and Brian is on the Girl team. Ed Templeton continues to guide Toy Machine.

Richie Belton quit Ricta to ride for the Pig Wheels team.

In other Volcom related news, Their "Yellow There" tour has been postponed until further notice.

A new company is born across the pond. Organic skateboards is based out of London, England. The starting line-up includes Ollie Todd, Joel Curtis, Toby Shaull, plus a player to be named later. Look for the first series of boards to hit stores very soon.

Keeping with the natural life theme, Element's new Animalism series of decks are now available in stores, so go get one.

And last, but not least, Tony Hawk will be in two movies this fall, Disney's "Max Keeble's Big Move" (also featuring Riley Hawk) and Revolution Film's "The New Guy."
