Macdonald Teams Up With Tech Deck

Professional Skateboarder Andy Macdonald Teams Up With Tech Deck To Release Andy Macdonald's Big Air Straight Jump Play Set. Andy Macdonald Brigade Miniature Skateboard Also Released

Ocean Beach, Calif. - Andy Macdonald, professional skateboarder and five-time World Cup Skateboarding overall points champion, is pleased to announce the release of Andy Macdonald's Big Air Straight Jump play set and signature Brigade miniature skateboard in conjunction with Tech Deck. Now skating enthusiasts can bring the action home and put their miniature skateboarding skills to the test.

Based on Andy's real life Guinness World Record jump, Andy Macdonald's Big Air Straight Jump play set allows miniature skateboarders to go for big air just like Andy Macdonald. The play set includes an adjustable three-foot long ramp, along with stickers from Macdonald's sponsors, including Airwalk, Bones, Brigade, Grind King, Harbinger, Pro-Tec, SoBe, Split, and Swatch. The jump set also connects with all Tony Hawk skatepark ramps to expand into the supreme miniature skateboarding skatepark.

"My new Tech Deck Big Air Straight Jump is just like the one I skated when I flew over four cars," says Macdonald. "Well, this one is a little less scary on the drop in."

Andy Macdonald's Big Air Straight Jump play set and the Andy Macdonald Brigade miniature skateboard are currently available at Wal-Mart, Target, Kay Bee, Toys R Us, Kmart and local specialty stores nationwide. The play set has a suggested retail price of $19.99 and the miniature skateboard has a suggested retail price of $3.99 and up.

In October 1999, Macdonald secured a Guinness World Record, where along with his watch sponsor Swatch, he constructed an Evel Kneivel-style skateboard ramp and proceeded to jump over four parked cars for a total distance of 52 feet 10 inches. In typical Andy style, his record would not last long. Just a few months later, in a competition held in Lake Havasu, Arizona, Andy managed to not only out-distance the other competitors, but he outdid his own record with a jump of 56 feet 10.75 inches.

Andy Macdonald's laundry list of accomplishments has cemented his position as one of the top professional skateboarders in the world. Seven X-Games gold medals, a first-place finish at the 2000 Gravity Games, five consecutive World Cup Skateboarding overall points championships, a U.S. postage stamp modeled after his likeness, a policy-related appearance and speech at the White House with former President Bill Clinton, and a position as a spokesperson for The Partnership for a Drug-Free America and ONDCP. At only twenty-eight years of age, Andy (a.k.a. Andy Mac) is a multidiscipline athlete who in the last four years is the only professional skateboarder to rank in the world's top ten in both street and vert competitions. Andy's unique style and determination have made him one of the most popular athletes in skateboarding today.
