Mike V. Takes the Ice


The National Hockey League has announced its rosters for the 2002 NHL All-Star Celebrity Challenge to benefit the Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. It will be LIGHTS, CAMERA, FACE as stars from the world of film, television and music battle one another. They will be joined by NHL Alumni in a game pitting two teams, Jerry Bruckheimer's Bad Boys against David E. Kelley's Heroes.

Bruckheimer, producer of Black Hawk Down, and Kelley, creator of Ally McBeal, The Practice and Boston Public, participated in a draft on Mon., Jan. 7 to choose the players who will make up the teams facing off in the 2002 NHL All-Star Celebrity Challenge presented by Microsoft Windows XP, which will be held in Los Angeles at the STAPLES Center on Wed., Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Mike Vallely was chosen to play forward for Bruckheimer's Bad Boys. A star studded team featuring Cuba Gooding, Men of Honor, Darrin Pfeiffer of Goldfinger, Chris Jericho of the WWF and Alex Trebek of Jeopardy.

A few of Kelley's Heroes are Denis Leary, The Job, Neal McDonough, Band of Brothers, Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray and Chad Smith of The Red Hot Chili Peppers. For the complete rosters log on to http://www.nhl.com/allstar2002/celebritygame.

Ticket prices start at only $10 and are still available though Ticketmaster.com, by calling Ticketmaster at (213) 480-3232 or through the STAPLES Center Box Office. Proceeds will benefit Hockey's All-Star Kids and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.

You can also see Mike V, as well as other celebrities, prior to the NHL All-Star Celebrity Challenge participate with other NHL players, coaches and staff in conducting on-ice hockey clinics for underprivileged youngsters, which will be held at NHL All-Star FANtasy.
