The Triple-Feature Feature

Grind
Picture this: Three flicks on three big screens about two action sports in one day within one mile of each other. That was a mouthful to write, much less read (out loud), so let me back up for a second.

We, the editorial staff, were sitting around the illustrious New York offices of EXPN.com wondering if anybody actually saw Grind, the newest big-dollar Hollywood take on life as a skateboarder. Answer? No.

But more revealing was during our discussion of skateboarding movies to hit the big screen — including cinematic marvels Skateboard, Gleaming the Cube, MVP2: Most Vertical Primate, Dogtown and Z-Boys, Jackass the Movie and of course, Grind — we realized if we skipped out of the office to see one skateboard movie on the big screen, we could actually see two.

Step Into Liquid

Two? That's right. The release of Stoked: The Rise and Fall of Gator was also fresh on the silver screen, and if a skateboard double feature was what we wanted, then dammit, that's what we were gonna get. Ahh, playing hooky from work to catch a double feature. What could be better?

How about a triple? Three movies in one day? You heard us right. The surf documentary Step Into Liquid was also just released, and this is where some historical significance comes into play.

Never in our lifetime have there been three action sports titles showing in mainstream theaters at the same time.

Stoked: The Rise and Fall of Gator

So, to honor this moment in history, we thought what the hell. If we're going to the movies, why not go all the way? The following is documentation of our one-day triple feature, because it ain't history if nobody's around to see it (or in our case, them).

So take a gander at one, or all, of our cinematic briefs and make your decision whether or not to join in this big-screen boardsport bonanza.
