"Are you kidding me?" That's what I said when I heard we were heading to Vegas for another Hawk Tour Stop! Two years ago we had a stop in Sin City for the first ever Tony Hawk Gigantic Skatepark Tour. Andrew Reynolds was voted most fun guy that year with his wreckless attack at the card tables. I think he lost about 1,000 bucks and yelled at 2-3 different girls. Rick Thorne almost got arrested there because of the way he was dressed. I guess Vegas cops don't like it when they see somebody walking around outside on a 110 degree day wearing a black leather trench coat! We were all lucky to leave there alive, somewhat. You can see why I was little nervous when I heard we were heading back, especially as we approached the end of the Tour. Oh well as I said two articles ago, "we are ready for anything, bring it!"

Las Vegas always lives up to its reputation when you visit in the summer. Hot, hot, and hot. It was about 104 degrees on demo day. I am glad we scheduled the demo for 7pm. By then it had cooled down to a mere 94 degrees. It was a dry heat though. This place even had bands playing before and after the demo, how sick is that? The bus and the RV pulled up around 7:20 pst that's 4:20 est. The place was packed and stacked with standing room only. Some kids even pulled down some of our sponsor signs for a better view of the skating action. The street course may have been tight but the boys managed to funk it up pretty hard. Bob Burnquist was doing big bowl-to-bowl transfers. Tony popped an ollie from flat ground to a hip located inside one of the numerous bowls at D.B.S. Mike V (my hero) threw down an ollie over a metal fence about 4-5 feet high off a small little cement wedge. M.V. is pretty much out of control, check him out in his new flick "Drive".

The Vert sesh was off the Richter scale as well. Tony busted out with a frontside 540, a trick he hasn't done in about 8 years! Shaun White has now pulled off a 720 and a frontside 540 rodeo on this tour. This kid is only 15! Somebody needs to sponsor his skating along with his snowboarding. Did I mention he is a pro snowboarder? Anyway, the Tony Hawk Gigantic Skatepark Tour is a TV must!! It is currently running on ESPN 2 and will be running all the way into December. Check out the TV times here on EXPN.com. If you don't have ESPN 2, you are lame, just kidding call your cable TV or your satellite provider to get it. Next and final stop Encinitas YMCA with a slight detour to go mini-bike riding. That sounds pretty fun I can't wait. Major props go out the employees of the D.B.R.C, security, The E.M.T., Barry, Rob, The Pro's and the bands who played especially the band Happy Camper, they ruled!
Quote of the day from stop comes from a Desert Breeze Local " When are you gonna do a board toss?" My response...we're not! Now go watch the demo!
