Getting Psyched for the Games

After the Winter X Games I flew down to San Diego for some R&R (rest and relaxation, not rock and roll!). I love it down here! I’ve just been chilling which consists of… riding my cruiser bike to check the surf (which isn’t very good lately), visiting friends, getting a massage, and reading lots. My favorite quote of the week is from the bible…"In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success." (Proverbs 3:6) Alrighty then!

Today is such a beautiful day! I have to take care of business stuff: emails, phone calls, etc. and then I’ll go for a bike ride with Cara-Beth Burnside-she lives down here too. Later, I have to stop by the Velvet offices and pick up some goggle lenses and sunglasses and then I’ll visit my friends who just had a baby!

Next week, I am going to the U.S. Olympic training camp in Park City, Utah to ride pipe for a few days. I can’t wait to dial in my run. I’m looking forward to focused-training! I am getting psyched for the games. I really think it’s going to be amazing. Everyone is asking me if I’m getting nervous, but I’m not. I am taking one day at a time and making the most of it. I’m looking to God, because I know he is in charge and will take care of all I do!

Life is so good, I’m so thankful. Sometimes I get really worked up about performing the best I can and it starts to become almost an obsession. I can just easily get caught up in that mind frame. Then I have to take a step back and realize what life is about! Life is incredible and I want to live each day as a gift and not sweat the small stuff-not even sweat the big stuff! I have to remind myself daily that it’s not about me-it’s about God!

Until next week,

Shannon
