Women's Motocross League


The Women's Motocross League reports the arrival of women's motocross racing with the national media.

During the past few months, the WML has garnered national media coverage as recognition of the importance of women riders steadily increases across the country. Part of this coverage comes in the form of four television shows including:

* "Winning Women" for Women's Entertainment TV, airs Spring 2002
* "High Octane" for Fox Sports Network, airs Spring 2002
* "Destination Danger" for the Travel Channel, airs April 2002
* As yet unnamed show by Fox Sports for Fox Sports Network, airs Spring 2002

This impressive television exposure is topped off by some key coverage in industry print media. The January issue of Racer X includes a five-page race wrap up on the AMA/ WML Outdoor Motocross Championship Series. Also in current circulation is women's race coverage in Dirt Rider and MX Racer magazines. Throughout the 2001 season, women's racing had regular publicity in Cycle News and MX America, as well as references and features in Racer X, MX Racer, Dirt Rider, Woman Rider, City Bike, and Team Green News. In addition to the industry print coverage, the December/January issue of Sports Illustrated for Women boasts coverage of women motocross racers.

Many established Web sites are devoting editorial to women's racing such as mxgirls.com, motonews.com, freshdirt.com, motorcycle-usa.com and racerxill.com. The use of women riders in motocross advertising is also on the rise, as seen in Fox Racing, KTM, Bel-Ray and Maxima campaigns.

The Women's Motocross League is a non-profit organization, specializing in the promotion and development needs of the women's off-road competitive motorcycle market. The WML hosts the six-stop national series that determines the womenıs professional motocross champion as well as the womenıs motocross international event that determines the International champion. The WML is the first female motocross organization to hold an AMA (American Motorcycle Association) charter.
