The ESPN Moto-X Championships, presented by MX Superfly is ready to rock the Cobo Arena in Detroit March 22-23 with perhaps the strongest field in the history of an individual event in the sport. The top names in freestyle motocross will be battling for precious WFA points to qualify for the 2002 Summer X Games, including the likes of veterans including Tommy Clowers, Mad Mike Jones, Brian Deegan, Clifford Adoptante, and Mike Metzger who will be dueling new faces like Drake McElroy, Dustin Miller, Nate Adams and Ronnie Renner.
With 3 separate disciplines the ESPN Moto-X Championships is jam packed with death defying tricks and fierce competition. Besides the normal freestyle competition it will also feature the fan favorite Step-Up, where Jeremy Stenberg and The King of the Step-Up, Tommy Clowers will likely take their rivalry to new heights as they battle for the WFA crown. The Big Air competition is where the elite can show off their talents and bust huge air. This is where new tricks are born. Riders will challenge gravity in an attempt to bring the crowd to their feet and keep them on the edge of their seats.
"It's a new season, with new talent and definitively a host of new tricks will come out of the bag," commented event promoter Paul Taublieb. "With X Games qualifying on the line, you can count on this being a battle of the best, old school vs. new school and when the dust clears only the strong will survive."
Tickets are available by Ticketmaster or at the arena. Competition starts 8 PM, Friday and Saturday, March 22-23.
