New Updates:
06.11.03 / 3:28 p.m. ET: According to an update on the Arundel digest section of The Capital website: Matthew Bigos, the passenger, suffered cracked vertebrae and ribs. Robert Pastrana, Travis' dad, said Matt's injuries didn't appear as severe as first thought and he would not be paralyzed. In town for a race in Southern Maryland, Matt and some friends visited Travis Monday night and Travis took Matt for a ride in his new Vette when the accident occurred. "He's used to hurting himself, not someone else," Robert Pastrana said. "It's a hard way to learn a lesson. He's lucky, I guess."
06.11.03 / 1:45 p.m. ET: Alex Thompson, EXPN.com Moto X columnist - "I spoke with Travis' roommate and longtime friend Jim and he said the surgery went well and he will recover one hundred percent. At first, there was a question of whether they would be able to save his finger and thumb, but it turns out that there was just tissue damage, but no nerve or bone damage. As far as his passenger, Matthew, I heard that he had a previous spinal injury that he was already recovering from. Apparently, he could still feel feel his legs while he was in the car, but started to lose feeling at the hospital."
06.11.03 / 11:00 a.m. ET: Bob Howell (Media Relations, Prince George's Hospital Center) - "Travis was released last night after his surgery, and we're not disclosing any further information."
06.10.03 / 9:38 p.m. ET: Kenny Bartram -- "I just talked to Travis' buddy Jim a couple minutes ago and he said Travis went into surgery a few hours back, but he hadn't heard anything yet. I think the passenger is starting to regain some feeling further down on his body, so that's definitely very positive news."

Nineteen-year-old motocross phenom Travis Pastrana was seriously injured early Tuesday morning when his Corvette crashed into an oak tree in his hometown of Davidsonville, MD.
According to a story in the Annapolis, MD, Capital, police said Pastrana and passenger Matthew Scott Bigos, 20, of Merritt Island, FL, were driving at about 12:30 a.m. when the vehicle went airborne after cresting a rise in the road. When the car landed, it ran off the right side of the road. Police speculate Pastrana then steered sharply to the left, causing the Corvette to spin while crossing the road.
The car then went up a steep embankment and struck a large oak tree. The impact flipped the Corvette, threw Pastrana from the vehicle and and blew apart the engine, police said.
Bigos, a mechanic for Floridian motocross racer Paul Perebijnos, was rescued by county firefighters and was taken to the Shock-Trauma Center at University Hospital in Baltimore and is in serious but stable condition.
"From what I've heard from people in his room with him, Matt does have feeling in his upper body, but has no feeling in his legs," says Tim Buffaloe, owner of Beach Sportcycles in Cocoa, FL, where Matt works. "From what I understand, there is no damage to the vertebrae around his spinal column and he should regain feeling in his lower extremities. But as far as a time frame, no one knows."
Pastrana was flown by helicopter to the Prince George's Hospital Center Trauma Unit in Cheverly, MD, where, according to county police, he was in serious but stable condition.
On the Racer X Illustrated website, Travis' dad, Robert Pastrana released the folowing to the mag: "Travis had some head injuries and crushed the bones in his left hand. The doctors were able to take care of his head, but he's going into surgery this afternoon for the hand and fingers."
A World Freestyle Champion by the age of 14, Pastrana was the 2000 AMA Rookie of the Year and owns four X Games medals, inlcuding golds in 1999, 2000 and 2001. He was taking a break this spring to recover from injuries, but was slated to compete in the final X Games qualifier July 18-19 at Randall's Island in New York City.
The hospital is not releasing any further information at this time. The Familie, Travis' PR agency, is also not releasing information at this time.
Check back for more info on Travis and Matt's condition. We'll update the story as soon as more details become available to us.
