Carmichael Schools 'em Again

Mt. Morris, PA (May 26) - At this time last year, Ricky Carmichael had yet to win an overall. This year he's won every moto of the AMA U.S. Motocross Nationals. For RC, it may be the year he goes untouched, which is about the only record in motocross he doesn't have. In fact, no rider can claim that title. The 125cc class was shaken up this weekend as Chad Reed took the double moto victories and a 10 point advantage in the points.

Carmichael can't be stopped in the 250cc class. Once again, his closest competitor was teammate, Sebastien Tortelli. But also once again, Carmichael was long gone, in a another convincing double moto victory for the red rider.

In the 125cc class, points leader, James Stewart tweaked his knee during Saturday practice and spent Sunday morning in the hospital. Stewart toughed it out and took fourth the first moto. In the second moto, Stewart and Team Pro Circuit/Kawasaki/Chevy Trucks' Mike Brown collided in the early stages, causing damage to both bikes, ultimately taking both riders out of the race.

Chad Reed was the fastest on the track, taking two moto wins and his first ever AMA National victory. Reed also inherited the points lead in the process. Branden Jesseman took second place and Eric Sorby rounded out the podium with 6-3 finishes.
