Tonight brought to a dramatic close the 2001 edition of The Supercross Masters Series - Australia's richest motorcycle series. The new Australian Supercross Champion was crowned against the Olympic backdrop of the Sydney Superdome.

Although it was a tough head-to-head battle through the season between Castrol KTM/No Fear's Craig Anderson and Honda pilot Cameron Taylor, at the end of the night the Championship would go to No Fear's Craig "RAMBO" Anderson. Both nights or racing though, would belong to Aussie Chad Reed, followed by young Travis Pastrana.

This was Pastrana's first time visiting beautiful Australia. As you can see Craig Anderson, and Chad Reed were checking out Travis closely to size up the competition. They definitely had respect for Travis after watching him tear up their mini Supercross track.

Craig Anderson, and Chad Reed.

The day before the race was a big press day; the two riders were Pastrana, and Aussie freestyle/racer Jono Porter, who put on a show. Considering the track was half-built, the two hopped around like low riders in a Dr. Dre video pulling off side-by-side tricks.

Travindo, at the end of the press day, went for a ten-mile nose wheelie to face plant. Lee got him in a WWF choke hold joking with Trav that he was lucky it was only press day or the crowd would have had a good laugh, I know we did.

Travis picks up the remains after an endo.

I point at Trav knowing the kid is having fun, you can't be guilty of that.
