(Pt. Dume, CA) May 31, 2002 -- Underscoring its position as the undisputed leader in bringing the cutting edge of freestyle motocross to the world, The ESPN Moto-X Championships, will present the first ever completed backflip within a very special episode of the LXD, Inc./Moto-X Co series, entitled "The Road to the X Games".

Hosted by the face of freestyle moto-x, Cameron Steele, and shot on location in the sand dunes of Glamis, CA, where the sport was born, this program takes viewers into the future with an exclusive in-depth interview with Caleb Wyatt describing how he achieved his incredible feat of landing a full, 360-degree backflip on a 250cc motorcycle.

This special segment also shows his numerous, nearly catastrophic crashes as he initially fails in his attempts at the feat that was undeniably trail blazed -- but never fully completed by Carey Hart and Travis Pastrana -- and culminates with Caleb successfully making motocross history, and achieving the Holy Grail of moto-x tricks, the fully completed backflip, and riding away smooth.

"This is a heart-stopping, history-making, landmark achievement," commented LXD and Moto-X Co CEO Paul Taublieb. "Thanks to the courage and athleticism of Caleb, along with his management team led by filmmaker and industry icon, Carter Gibbs (who shot the backflip), the footage of this great feat will be seen by the world. This is the future of the sport and we're thrilled to be a part of it."

Wyatt next plans to do the backflip at the 2002 X Games in Philadelphia, PA, August 15-19.

The Freestylemtx.com ESPN Moto-X Championship television show, presented by MX Superfly along with Uni Filter, also features the highlights of the mind-blowing action from the entire 01/02 ESPN Moto-X season, including stops in Nashville, Detroit and Cleveland.

This tour features the best riders in the world competing for WFA World Championship titles in the disciplines of Freestyle, Big Air and Step Up, as well as battling for coveted X Games qualifying points. Highlights include 17-year-old Nate Adams' incredible run to secure WFA World titles in both Big Air and Freestyle, and Ronnie "Who's Your Daddy" Renner taking the world WFA crown in Step Up, along with riders like Brian Deegan, Mike Metzger, Drake McElroy, Clifford Adoptante, Trevor Vines and "Mad" Mike Jones pushing the limits of sanity and gravity on the road to the X Games.

The ESPN Moto-X Championships is the original, authentic tour of the sport, and the only televised series featuring all the stars of freestyle motocross. It's also the exclusive X Games qualifying series.

An in-depth feature article with Caleb about the backflip will soon be appearing on expn.com, written by Alex Thompson, also host of the "Fortress of Freestyle" segment on the ESPN Moto-X Championships series. Following the premier of the footage of Caleb's backflip on ESPN, the backflip in its entirety will be available for viewing on ESPN Moto-X section of expn.com.
