They travel light and play deep. Tonight at the Beta Lounge, Udoh and Deep C showed us the difference between music from the soul and that same old four four peaktime parade of hits.
Both have DJ careers that began in the mid-west in the mid 80's and took them separately to Atlanta in the early 90's. There they met at a record shop called Let the Music Play, hooked up with producer Chris Brann and began a fruitful six years under the name Wamdue (a contraction of What I'm Gonna Do).
The trio released a steady stream of influential records on labels like Guidance, Strictly Rhythm, Peace Frog, Studio K7, Junior Boys Own and others. Currently, they maintain a hectic touring schedule that includes stops in Liverpool, London, Cape Town, Berlin, Denmark, and Poland. In addition to touring, Udoh and Deep C have upcoming projects on Red Melon, F Communications, and Worship.

All of the activity doesnt prevent them from closely watching and listening, allowing them to move their audience in unexpected directions. "It's about emotional content," says Udoh, when asked what separates their music from the pack. So we turned down the bright floodlights, got the studio smoky, and watched as the duo unpacked two record boxes full of feeling.
