Beta Lounge April 6, 2000

NO GERMAN TRIP HOP...said Panacea as he approached the decks at the Beta Lounge on 4.6.00, he flipped our slip mats to the promotion-free side.

From there, he proceeded to destroy everything with the roughest of drum & bass, spinning work by the hardest producers in the genre from Bad Company to San Francisco's own UFO! Watching Panacea play is an inspiring, high-energy experience. He "sings along" with the bone-softening basslines and paranoid amphetemine synth squelches, all the while snapping his neck with the jackhammer two-steps. This dj has as good a time as the capacity crowds he draws.

Panacea produces his music without employing computer sequencers like Cubase and Logic. He feels they have an immediately recognizable sound, exemplified by the work of many UK drum and bass producers. Instead, Panacea prefers to work with hardware synthesizers, samplers and sequencers, fueling his concerns with speed and intensity by disfiguring samples from The KLF, the Orb and Future Sounds of London.

When he isn't cranking out an impressive amount of music, under a wide range of project names such Disorder and Bad Street Boy, he is tooling his Porsche Boxster to higher levels of performance and expanding his collection of fresh clothing.

So buckle up, keep your eye on the RPMs and bang your head... http://www.betalounge.com/stuff/lounge4-6-00.ram
