Heading for a win, China Uemura goes head over heels to win his division of the Hawaiian Style Classic

Honolulu Star Bulletin - May 7. A day after his son Kekoa won the Steinlager Pro division, China Uemura put on a surfing show of his own. The elder Uemura won the 225-pound-over division of the Hawaiian Style Classic off Kuhio Beach yesterday. It was the first title for Uemura in seven years and the first time he and his son had won a division in the same contest. Danny Tamonte, competing in the 30-39 men's division, had the longest noseride of the day, riding for nearly seven seconds. The next event in the Steinlager Series is the June 16-17 Hawaiian South Shore Open at Kewalo Basin.

SKT - If you're ever a skateboarder in downtown Napier, New Zealand, you might find your style a little cramped. Skateboards are to be banned in the downtown area and most of the nearby shopping centers. If caught, skateboarding violators may be fined $500 (that's New Zealand currency). But it doesn't stop there. City council is looking to also outlaw scooters and skates as well.
