Skateboarding Park Final:
The skateboard park final was the most anticipated event of the day. The crowd filled the bleachers with excitement for the action that was to come. An hour long practice session gave the ten riders a chance to skate the course before the final was to start. The ten skaters were trying to find lines that were left untouched yesterday and stick tricks that were above what they tried before. There were only nine points separating second place and tenth place today, showing the strength of the field's talent. Chris Senn was set on landing an ollie to boardslide that cleared the pyramid but seemed to have trouble with it all day, never quite stomping it. He finished the day with a fifth place ranking. Senn is one of the few competitors that have already received an invitation to X Games VIII. The other two competitors in today's final that have already secured a spot in Philly this summer are Kyle Berard and Pat Channita. Placing second was young ripper Kyle Berard of Virginia Beach, VA. Skating with a plate in his leg after a life-threatening car crash Kyle used technical flip tricks and rail slides to earn a 82.67, enough for second. Bronze medallist is Pat Channita of Garden Grove, CA after a consistent run that included a kickflip over the deck gap highlighting his smooth style.

In the end, it was Carlos de Andrade of Curitiba, Brazil who will head to Philly for X Games VIII. He turned in an impressive performance with huge airs and technical grinds. Although it may have gone unnoticed by some, he had a combo at the end of his winning run that pumped him up more than anyone else, except maybe the judges who showed they noticed by awarding him a leading score of 94.33. The combo was a huge kickflip over the pyramid, back up the transition of the roll-in then down into a switch flip over the corner of the very same pyramid he had just cleared. This will be one portion of the telecast that you will not want to miss. All in all, the athletes showed how versed they are at adapting to what is known as an oversized park and having fun no matter what the conditions are.

Bicycle Stunt Vert Final:
After rain delayed the qualifying yesterday, the wind put a hold on competition today. Heavy wind gusts made it too dangerous for the competition to be held. The final will be held tomorrow.

Bicycle Stunt Flatland Final:
Fans crowded around to witness the first final of the event in Bike Stunt flatland. Each athlete in the field of ten that qualified for the finals had the skills to score a win. There were only 10 points that separated the riders when it was all over, showing how close the competition actually was. Four of the five riders that have already qualified for X Games VIII were in the final for a chance to medal and $10,000 for the first place finisher.

York Uno showed off his stylee skills with an overall solid run that earned him a third place finish. Second place finisher and winner of an invitation to X Games VIII was Michael Steingraber. He has been competing since 1987 and embraces a nomadic lifestyle. Five-time flatland champion Trevor Meyer showed that he is still on top of his flatland skills with a first place finish. His run was topped off with a link no one else can do, a pedaling death-truck into a pedaling dump truck. Meyer is a self-taught athlete that starting biking at age 13 and has been on a roll ever since. He is already qualified for X Games VIII and will surely be a top contender for the podium.

Aggressive Inline:
With hurricane gales threatening to blow away any rollerblader who wasn't tied down, the EXPN Invitational showed Dallas what happens when an unstoppable force meets a field of immovable objects. The women's street contest featured some of the strongest skating on the Grand Prairie course. Hometown girl Deborah West put together a line that looked not so much practiced as naturally derived from the ramps around her to win the bronze. Jenna Downing made the trip from England to take the silver with effortless grinds and unsurpassable strength. But it was Fabiola who unanimously claimed the gold medal. Her run featured a whole buffet of new tricks including topside acid grinds and a flawless porn star.

Eito Yasutoko from Osaka, Japan won it all with a 93.25.

The vert comp was even more breathtaking. After the prelims were rained out, it was determined that all fifteen skaters would qualify for the finals, from ex-Marine Joe Ackler to the precision team of Yasutoko and Yasutoko. Fresh off her street victory, Fabiola pulled two solid runs to finish in sixth place. Executing a perfect 1080, Marc Englehart squeezed into fifth. Mike Budnik put together a solid line with difficult tricks like his fakie 900 to finish in fourth and Sven Boekhurst pulled into third. Although he was ahead after the first run, Takeshi dropped to second overall when his brother Eito put together a fakie 900, a switch 900 and a 1080 in what was unquestionably the best run of the contest.
Still to come: street finals when Sven has a chance to take home all the guilder.
