Jeerasak, the 2000 World #5 Aggressive Inline Skater Takes Lead at 2002 Asian Xtour Bangkok presented by Toyota 22 June 2002, Bangkok, Thailand: ESPN STAR Sports launched today the preliminary competition of Asia’s most anticipated action sports tour event, the Asian Xtour presented by Toyota with 20 of Thailand’s top aggressive inline skaters qualifying for the finals tomorrow for a chance to represent the Kingdom at the Asian X Games Qualifier V presented by Toyota in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in January 2003. In the Main X category (15 years old and above), well-known Thai Inline Skater Jeerasak Tasson, the world’s #5 in Park Inline Skating in the 2000 Summer X Games was an easy favorite with a run that included the air jump and a 900 degree spin that earned him a score of 89.25. Bamrungkit, the champion of 2001 Junior X Games presented by Toyota, who turned 15 this year performed well on his run and scored an 80.75 mostly on his smooth trick transitions. Worapoj Boonnim, who bagged the silver at the 2001 Asian Xtour also scored 80.75 on a run marked by speed and consistency. Six athletes in the under 14 competition Junior Xtour presented by Toyota qualified to compete in the finals tomorrow. They are: Sedthakarn Kaewketgarn (61.75), Stelias Karamallis (59), Vuttichai Kumpirayot (57), Kronpitak Pinyaworrapot (43.25), Sumet Kruapanichwong (38) and Chinavut Gurkung (35.25). Preliminary competition for skateboardinging began mid-afternoon today with results available only after press time. Preliminary action on bicycle stunt park and flatland is scheduled for tomorrow morning, Sunday, 23 June, before the Finals in the afternoon. The 2002 Asian Xtour, Bangkok is presented by TOYOTA and welcomes the support of the Official Partner: adidas and Associate Sponsors: Malaysia Airlines, UNO, Seacon Square and the Bangkok General Hospital. The 2002 Asian Xtour, Bangkok is promoted and organized by ESPN International and ESPN STAR Sports. ESPN and ESPN International will televise the event with original programming, re-airs and encore presentations. Original air of the program will be at 10:00am on July 21 on ESPN Asia. |
