Feb. 02, 2002

Japanese and Australian skateboarding and aggressive inline skaters were unbeatable today during the second day of competition at the Asian X Games Qualifier IV presented by Toyota.

Aussie skateboarders ruled the vert this afternoon with five athletes from the land down under placing within the top ten. Dave Bodnar from Sydney came in first, with New Zealander Tony Glen Alexander cruising into second and Gen Ogawa from Japan finishing third. Fourth to seventh place all went to Aussies.

Results for aggressive inline skating vert finals came as no surprise as Japan's dynamic duo, the Yasutoko Brothers, came in first and second place. 18-year-old Eito took top spot followed by his 15-year-old brother Takeshi. Compatriot Rui Kitamura came in third proving once again that the Japanese are world-class competitors in inline skating.

15,500 spectators also feasted their eyes on a pro demonstration featuring some of the world's best athletes in skateboarding, bicycle stunts and aggressive inline skating. The most awarded bicycle stunt athlete in X Games history, Dave Mirra, X Games champions inline skaters Yasutoko brothers with Rui Kitamura and X Games medalist skateboarder Chris Senn kept the crowd at the edge of their seats with a skillful and artful demonstration of what X Games is all about.

Finals scheduled to take place tomorrow, Saturday, include bicycle stunt park finals and wakeboarding both at 11:00am (wakeboarding will take place at the Mines Resort City), women and men's sport climbing bouldering devision finals at 3:30pm and 5:45pm respectively and aggressive inline skating doubles finals at 8:00pm.
