| Grind |

| Half pipe |
A type of ramp that is shaped like a "U" and used for vert skating. |
| Halfpacker |
The rider is rolling and facing forward standing in front of the bars with both feet on the front pegs while holding the frame to one side by the seat. |
| Hammer |
To ride as hard as possible. |
| Handlebars |
The steering mechanism located on the front of the machine. Throttle, clutch, and front brake are attached to the bars. |
| Handrails |
What riders slide and grind on, looks like and is a handrail. |
| Hang five |
Forward rolling nose wheelie with one foot on a front peg while remaining seated. |
| Head angle |
The angle at which the head tube is set relative to the ground. Steeper head angles are generally quicker-handling, wheras shallower angles are slower-handling |
| Head tube |
The tube that houses the headset. |
| Headset |
The bearings and cups that hold the fork in the frame. This allows you to steer. |
| Hip |
The spot where a ramp or obstacle comes to a point. Tricks are done while flying over or off of it. |

Rolling with feet on the front pegs holding the back tire so that the handlebars are just skimming the ground. |

Grabbing the lead at the start of the race. |
| Huck |
To jump, usually without concern for the consequences. |

Only the back peg is grinding with front tire in the air. |
| Involuntary Dismount |
A crash. |
| Joey |
Same as a poser. |
| Kicker |
A name for a jump ramp. Kickers usually have the property of throwing you up into the air rather than giving you distance. |
| Knee pad |
A type of protective padding worn on the knees. |
| Knee slide |
A way of controlling a fall by sliding on plastic caps on the knee pads. |
| Knobbies |
Tires with high-profile treads, as found in most off-road-specific tires. |
| Late |
A term used to describe incorporating something into a trick just before its completion and landing. |
| Launch |
The moment a rider starts to execute a jump, and the time he is actually flying through the air. |
| Lid |
A helmet. |
| Lip |
The top edge portion of the halfpipe wall. |
| Lip trick |
Any trick performed on or near the lip of the wall of the halfpipe. |
