Every Action Sports fan in San Diego and many from out of town rolled into Oceanside to check out the best bike riders in the world. Oceanside is cool little beach town that is full of interesting and sometimes rough characters. A few years ago there was a riot but everyone was way cool this year and there were no problems. The Action however, was nuts, folks. The riders stepped it up and gave their best world class efforts despite the fact that many were nursing injuries after a long season of competitions. The bike comp coincided with the Triple Crown of skate, so there was a ton of stuff going down. The event had a killer vibe, it seemed that everyone had a good time, spectators and participants, except maybe that kid that got his hand slammed in the car door by his Dad. The weather was hot, the girls were out, the terrain was sick and the riding was top notch. If you get a chance, check out a Triple Crown if it comes to your neck of the woods.

| Huge tail whip by Dave Mirra, 1st place winner. |
Bikers and skateboarders shared the vert ramp. There was a giant channel with a bridge over it. Not too many bikers used the channel. Chady Kagy said of the ramp "I am not used to such a big ramp, dropping in so fast on my first run" Dennis McCoy said the ramp was "good and fast."
Dave Mirra killed the vert comp. All the riders rode well but Mirra killed it for a well-deserved first place. 61 people entered, 9 made it to the finals.
Chad Kagy crushed the competition, all 66 of em, in the Street Comp. Chad used the whole course and rode solid. In one run Chad pulled a Tailwhip Backflip AND a Double Backflip. One of the other finalists said of Kagy's run "That's the best run I have ever seen."
The riders seemed to like the layout of the street course with a lot of interesting obstacles. Big walls, hips, ledges, quarter pipes, pyramids, spines, even a bridge.
Ryan Nyquist took the Dirt Comp top honors and was the overall dirt points champ AND the Triple Crown Champ. Ryan took home $19,500 and new Ford Ranger.
