Welcome to as the BMX world turns.
K2 has apparently picked up Todd Lyons to replace the dropped Chris Eiman. Believe me, they are two guys who lead different lives.
Macneil's Nick Halsey tore his ACL while trying to shoot photos with some dumb photographer (me) the other day. He's going to have surgery soon and will be out for a while.
Speaking of Macneil, the team just completed a trip to Austrailia to film for their upcoming video and to generally cause mayhem. By all accounts it was a great trip and all the girls "down under' are beautiful.
The new Fit video "F-it" is out now. Some people seem to think it's really good, some are calling it a weak effort. I've only seen the teaser (which looked pretty good) so I can't agree one way or the other.
Construction of "Woodward West" is rumored to be beginning shortly. Nate Westal and the rest of the Pennsylvania summertime mecca ramp building crew will be putting the place together in time for the first wave of campers this June.
Is there a rider who isn't getting flow from Vans shoes these days? Well, I know there are plenty, but it seems like Vans has been putting some serious effort into BMX recently.
There is a "King of bicycles" contest happening in Vancouver on the 16-17th of Feb. But rumor has it that it's just a crap contest run my mountain bikers. Still, if you won, you could make a crown out of an old Pro-Tec and demand private runs at all your favorite skateparks.
The La Revolution contest in Toronto on the other hand, now that is a real contest. And it will be happening March 1-3. keep an eye out on the Chase BMX website for sign up info. www.chasebmxmag.com
I've been really bust this month trying to shoot a bunch of photos and film for various video projects. But I'll get a BMX break next week when I get to go to Aspen and shoot photos of the rockstar professional snowboarders at the Winter X Games. Believe me, when I get back, I'll be so happy to be away from that world and back in the comforting arms of little bicycles.
It sounds like Manu Sanz (French photographer for Cream BMX magazine) will have another calendar coming out this year. His photos are amazing and last year's calendar had done of my favorite BMX images ever. I have no idea how to get one, go to France I guess.
John Parker is off the Primo Pro team.
Brian Foster is on the Primo Pro team.
In the continuing saga of "Where will the Schwinn/GT riders end up" Brian Wizmerski is now riding for S&M. Which means that he'll have to watch out for the monsters that live under John Paul Rogers' couch when he comes to visit.
Now go to your gym and work out so you can win this summer's AA pro races.
