The Mountain Dew National Championships of BMX, a one-of-a-kind event drawing the world's best BMX
riders, arrive at Denver's Pepsi Center grounds June 28-30. Most of the
sport's biggest names including
Dave Mirra,
Ryan Nyquist and
Cory Nastazio
will be in Denver for the second stop of the $250,000 Vans Triple Crown of
BMX competing in three disciplines: Vert, Dirt and Street. The Mountain
Dew National Championships of BMX will also air August 31 at 2:30 p.m. EST
on NBC Sports as part of the network's ongoing coverage of the Vans Triple
Crown Series.
"People are going love what they see at the Mountain Dew National
Championships of BMX," said Jay E. Wilson, Vans' vice president of global
marketing. "We've got a great Vans Triple Crown Series history in Denver
with our annual snowboard stop in Breckenridge so we're really excited to
bring a quality summer event to the area."
In Denver, Nyquist looks to continue his great Vans Triple Crown start,
having captured both the Street and Dirt titles at this year's first stop
in Charlotte, May 10-12. He'll be facing the world's best riders as last
year's overall Vans Triple Crown champ Dave Mirra, X Games/Gravity Games
champ
Stephen Murray and a slew of contenders (Nastazio,
Alistair Whitton,
Mike Aitken and
Jamie Bestwick included) will vie for their share of the
$250,000 purse. BMX legends Tim "Fuzzy" Hall and
Rick Thorne will show
that they still can compete with the best as well.
