(GOLDEN, CO) The Gravity Games™ and Airwalk® recently announced that they
have teamed up to present the Gravity Games Airwalk Amateur Challenge
(GGAAC), a five-city tour taking place in skateparks across the U.S.
throughout July and August 2001. The GGAAC series promises to be the
premiere amateur event of the summer, giving qualifying amateur athletes in
the skateboard and BMX categories an opportunity to gain recognition and win
a trip to appear in the Gravity Games Airwalk Amateur Challenge exhibition
event to take place at the 2001 Gravity Games in Providence, Rhode Island.
As title sponsor of GGAAC, airwalk invites qualifying amateur athletes, who
are not monetarily compensated by industry sponsors, to register in the
skateboarding and BMX categories for the weekly competition which will
include non-stop competition, music, demos and autograph sessions by airwalk
pro team athletes, food, giveaways and more!
The GGAAC will feature up to 150 amateur athletes in skateboarding and up to
50 amateurs in the BMX category in the novice and open divisions in each
market. Each stop will feature qualifying rounds on Saturday, with final
rounds and awards following on Sunday. Top novice competitors in both
skateboarding and BMX will receive an airwalk prize package, while the top
competitors in the open category will win a trip to compete in the Gravity
Games Airwalk Amateur Challenge exhibition event to take place at the 2001
Gravity Games, Sunday, September 9, 2001!
