What keeps you psyched on BMX?
It's just so fun, and it's the only thing I know. BMX is addicting because you get the same feeling you did when you first started riding. I still go out and ride just to have fun everyday.
What sacrifices have you made to stay involved in BMX?
I'm putting off college. I'm putting 100% towards BMX until it calms down. I travel all the time. I don't have a relationship right now. I moved away from my parents to come to California and pursue BMX, so I've sacrificed a lot.
Have you ever had a second job to support your racing?
When I was younger I was a courier in Washington DC to get to the races, but since I got on DK it's been an easy go.
Did it conflict with your racing schedule?
No, it was better. They gave me any time I wanted off, and I was on my bike everyday. So I was basically training for BMX and making money at the same time.
What are your goals for racing right now?
For racing I don't really have any goals. I just want to have fun. My goals are for the Triple Crown series; I want to dominate, that's my main goal. But as for conventional BMX racing, I just want to have fun and stay competitive. I'm not trying to win these things, it's just a big football game out there.
Do you have plans for the future outside of BMX?
I want to go into the marketing aspect of it and I want to do Web site design. I have my own Web site now and I'm just getting started [with it]. Steve Buddendeck is starting a new company and hopefully I can work for him when it's all over.
Have you made any financial plans for your retirement?
I just started a retirement fund last year.
