We got up around noon and headed to DMC’s park set up. My body isn’t happy with me today…I hope I loosen up by the time we get to Dennis’s. We’ve got the native KC-er, Rick Thorne, back on the tour. We jumped in the Jones Soda RV with “Sweat P/Frank B” at the wheel. We rolled to the backyard ramp and I realized that I forgot how good a park set up can be that is completely set up and catered to bikes. It also reminded me of how great a nice backyard session with your friends is. That’s what riding is to me. Just throwing it down and celebrating it with nothing other then your intentions and your expectations.

The whole crew was just ripping that park apart. Dennis just got surgery on his wrist, so he shouldn’t have been riding, but he still was doing a few lines no one else even thought of attempting, and he was doing it all with a huge cast on his arm. If Dennis was healthy he would have put us all through the KC school of how to ride a bike. Rooftop was demonstrating, or more like showing off, his bike control. That boy has skills. Kevin was going huge over the box and the vert ramp. He was throwing down back-to-back flairs to a perfect no handed flair. He was skyin’ with huge 540’s. I tried to learn a new one. I wanted to do a Superman seat grabber to a no-foot candybar one hander, but I only got it to a no foot candybar… my hand was being stubborn. I should have crashed on a Rocket no hander, but some how my bike landed without me and I landed on my bike and pulled it. I didn’t question it. I just took it and thanked the ramp gods for the extra life. I threw a flair that may have been the biggest one I landed. Nate Wessel was flowing and carvin’ the place like he was painting a picture, same with Rueben and Seth. Butcher was adapting his street aggression to park and Cory was destroying the box with superman tailwhips, Indian airs supermans, 360 tailwhips and skying huge lookdowns out of the mini. He has so much style. I took my helmet off and just watched and smiled.

The sun set and we headed back to the hotel. I had to put my sore ass to bed, I may have broken a rib, I'm not sure. A street posse formed (Nate, Rueban, Butcher, Seth) and they went out with Seth and Ryan to film. Later Rooftop, Thorne and DMC hooked up with a posse of about 40 other riders. I don’t know what to tell you, but I heard there were some insane things documented, so I’m sure you and I will be watching it on the tube and picking our jaws off the ground soon.
We had an early wake up call to get rollin’ to OKC. We got on the road by 10:30am and headed for my home town. In six hours I’ll see my girls (Jaci and Baby G). I can’t wait. Nate Wessel redesigned the street area of my park before he met up with us in Chicago. I haven’t even seen it yet. We are going to have some fun and there’s an HB party going down tomorrow night, so I’ll fill you in soon.
Everyone on the tour would like to give a shout out to DMC and Josh for the great day, thanks!
