Mat's World
E3 - Showing Off the New Hoffman Game
By Mat Hoffman
Jun. 04, 2001

It's been in the making for more than a year and a half and my video game is finally released. Here's some video grabs from a show I did at the Activision booth at the E3 trade show the day of its release. I've done many, many shows for over 15 years, but this show was really unique. What I mean by that is it was like a parallel alternative sports universe.

Anyone for a candybar?

The crowd at the video game trade show was super into Bicycle Freestyle and Skateboarding and it had been a part of their lives and their industry for years through the success of Tony Hawk's game, but they had never really seen these sports for real. They knew all the names of the tricks and could anticipate our lines, but their experiences in these sports consisted of mainly riding and skating vicariously through animated computerized characters.

The fans like it.

In the video game world, I noticed that our sport now has a digital parallel universe where our animated images and sport has grown way more popular in their world then the real thing. It was a unique experience to say the least, and from now forward I consider myself in a new era of our sport. I can now say the sport is immortalized. No matter how old I get, no matter how jacked up my body becomes I will now be able to ride through this digital parallel universe… I would have never thought, but I like the juice. Get the game… it rules, Mat Hoffman

Mat rocks the game as Tony looks on.
