Barrett Christy Q&A Part II
Editors Note: We caught up with Barrett Christy at the Winter X Games VI in Aspen before the 18th Annual Mt. Baker Banked Slalom. We took the opportunity to ask last year's golden duct tape winner her thoughts on the upcoming event and more. If you want to read the first part of this discussion click here.

Where are you headed next?
I'm going to Mt. Baker next. I leave Monday out of Denver and flying up there. I'm looking forward to that. I'm glad it's snowing because I want to go ride some powder. I did all these contests early season so I'm kind of looking forward to doing some riding. I'm going to Switzerland at the end of February to shoot for the Warren Miller movie. Two years ago I went to North Cascades and had a super good time and that turned out to be a great part. Hopefully Switzerland will be the same. In the month of February I hope to just ride powder. I'm really looking forward to landing in soft snow!

Why do you think Mt. Baker is so popular with all the pro's?
It's the only race that is really a racers race. It's just a good all-around course. You just go as fast as you can and for me, it's fun to not be judged on my style. It doesn't matter how lax my style is as long as I can get down as fast as I can and that is what counts. It's also just because it's at Mt. Baker and that mountain is so fun to ride. It's a good excuse to just go out and have some fun.

What is your favorite condition to ride in?
Last year was my least favorite of the conditions but it was the first time I have ever won it. I was thinking maybe it was because the conditions weren't great that I didn't go out and just pound my legs all day riding and I still had some energy for that one timed run. I like it when the banks and berms are really big and smooth. Where there is not a lot of snow it can be kind of rutted and that is a different challenge all together. It's fine when it's really smooth and there are really big berms to bank of off and it just flows really well.

What are your predictions for Mt. Baker?
I think Temple (Cummins) is going to win it again. He's been up there and he's put more time in on Baker than anyone I know. I think he will probably take it again.

Who would win in a Shuksan-Arm hiking contest, Matt, Mike or Temple? Or their dad?
I think Temp would win for sure. He would lap them all. They all love that place a lot. Temps been up there hiking all year and I can't keep up with him!

How much input in the making of the board?
A lot. Mervin was my first sponsor so I started riding Libtech and then switched to GNU eventually. I've been really lucky to have four boards I could help design. I changed this year and really like it so far. I've been riding the 150, and the 153 probably for the bank slalom, maybe the 157 depending on how much snow there is and how tight those turns are! I've always worked really closely with them. There are lots of boards to try so if I'm not really sure how to put into words what I want out of my board, I'll go and try some of the Libtech and GNUs and figure it out from there. They have been great to work with, I love them.

Who does your graphics?
I've always had friends who have done my graphics. For awhile Kelly Talbot did my graphics and she did such beautiful stuff. Then last year for one of my boards Annette Veihelman did by mosaique tile looking graphics. I really liked that so this year we did something similar. They are always kind of influenced by the elements. I always have fire and water or earth type themes. This one I've got red and orange flames and blue waves with a water theme.
